Dining room chairs generally come with tables, but more and more people are thinking outside the box when it comes to their furniture needs.  Having bought an old carved door from a French Vineyard, we decided to place a pane of glass over the top and use it as our dining room table.  The chairs had to work with the chunky feel and we found just the right ones in the set of plans.

Although there are only a dozen or so to choose from, if you want to customize a chair, the dining room chair is the easiest to redesign once you have a template to work from.

That is one of the greatest advantages of building your own furniture in that you can customize it without adding a massive price tag to the end product.  Bespoke without breaking the bank.

Depending on how elaborate you want your outdoor entertainment area to be, you may want to consider some form of cover.  Pergolas and Gazebos are ideal and although gazebos can be very expensive to buy, they are not as expensive to build.   The plans include an 8′ gazebo, tea house gazebo, pavillion and entertainment gazebos as well as a Lake Tahoe and Hot Tub Gazebos.  There are also simple plans for shade gazebos too.

What level of expertise do you need to build your own outdoor furniture?  Not a lot, but having the right work area and the right tools will make the whole experience that much more enjoyable and will result in a much better finish.
